Step 2 - Your Consultation

The next step is face-to-face consultation with a TMS staff psychiatrist. You should set aside about one hour for this visit. Please bring a loved one to this appointment. Your psychiatrist will review your history, medications, and current symptoms. The goal of this consultation is to determine if TMS is an appropriate treatment for you and to answer any questions you may have about TMS therapy. We will have the opportunity to discuss issues regarding insurance coverage and cost of the treatment. Once you have decided to engage in treatment, we will provide you with all of the information to prepare you for your TMS treatment. You may experience a mild headache or some mild irritation of the scalp at the site of treatment. These symptoms typically subside after the first day or two and can be easily treated with simple analgesics such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen(Advil).

Starting TMS

Step 1 - Call Us

TMS has been approved since 2008, but many patients are unaware of the treatment and benefits. Please give us a call at 912-200-8107 or 912-352-2921 or send us an email. We can answer all of your questions about TMS. Our staff will ask you a few simple questions to identify any safety considerations that need to be discussed. Once we have clarified this information, we'll provide you with the necessary forms and arrange a consultation with a Savannah Psychiatry TMS provider.

Step 3 - Your Treatment

TMS therapy at Savannah Psychiatry lasts between 45 minutes to an hour. Most treatments occur 5 days a week for 6 weeks. There is no sedation or anesthesia during this procedure. You are welcome to bring a family member to your therapy. Our staff will arrange a convenient time in your schedule to receive TMS therapy. We will carefully monitor your progress and may occasionally make adjustments to the TMS treatment, if needed. For patients outside of Savannah Psychiatry, our psychiatrist or staff will keep your treating psychiatrist informed of your progress.
